Avery

Avery was tired and hungry here. We were on our way home from a big morning.

Our little Avery. I think that Avery is literally the most beautiful being that I have ever laid my eyes on and it is fun to see her develop from an infant to a toddler. Avery is such a doll with a big opinion and a mind of her own. I don't say this like it is a bad thing, in fact I think that it is great. However, sometimes it can be a challenge. She is also tenderhearted and her feelings get hurt easily.

She talks about everything and if she isn't sure what happened she will ask, "What happened?" Her language is advanced for her age, but sometimes she finds the pronunciation difficult. She has been calling music, "Mickeys" and Todd told her it was, "muse ic" she took him very seriously and practiced about times and now it able to say it correctly.

Avery is intelligent and figures things out easily. She recently climbed out of her crib and honestly I think that she has known for a long time that she could do it. It is just now that she had a good enough reason to show us. She did it because she was angry with me. The kids were getting ready for bed and I told her it was time to rock. She said no. Then I told her it was time for kiss hugs. She said no. So, then I told her it was time for bed at this point she was angry and crying. I picked her up and laid her in her bed. It wasn't 5 minutes and the crying and screaming stopped. I felt relief, then I heard the door open and a little voice say, "I wanna rock." Two nights later she had her toddler bed up, which we call her big girl bed. I had a talk with her about being a big girl and what that means in reference to her big girl bed. She has done awesome and stays in her bed until she falls asleep and calls for us when she is up. She still takes a 2-4 hour afternoon nap and sleeps all night. With summer here, bedtimes have varied depending on her length of nap.

Avery is never a step behind and she adores Mason. We were at a park recently and she latched onto an 8 year old girl and was going down (what refer to as a big big girl slide). I wasn't 100% comfortable with this, but she was safe and having fun. She seems to have no fear and loves to be busy. She likes the swings and loves the slides. Recently, we were at fun day for Mason's school and Avery had no problems keeping up with the 3 and 4 years olds. She also likes Dora, being outside, counting, and reading. Her favorite thing is probably helping, "I wanna help, I wanna help!" while she jumps up and down. She gets a lot of self satisfaction from this and loves to be complimented on the job she has done. You can see her beam with pride. Many times it is better for her than receiving a reward or treat.
