Ruling Out a Food Allergy
Friday Avery started to display a rash on her inner thighs. When I got home Cecilia tried to show me, but it was gone. Saturday I got to see first hand. This is interesting in that it comes, takes over strange parts of her body (shoulders, back, stomach, thighs, legs, and arms) then within an hour or 2 disappears. I remembered that Caleb had had a food allergy about a year ago and Renee couldn't get him an appointment for the pediatrician (she has since switched doctors) because they don't see kids for rashes. I called Dr. C and he told me to not treat the rash with ointments, lotions, oatmeal baths, or other methods unless it seems to bother her. The truth is that it seems to bother me more than it bothers her. He also talked about allergies and how he thinks that this is what is happening. So, we have started keeping a food journal and starting to narrow down the problem food. There is never a dull moment in our house, something always keeps us on our toes.

Good luck in solving the mystery. I know how hard it can be to figure out what is causing an allergic reaction. Have you ruled out a contact allergy, i.e. laundry soap, new fabric etc? Mine change all the time. I constantly find new things I've developed an allergy to, like paper!
