Our Audiology Clinic just completed our first open house event. It was a week long and a lot of hard work. Renee and I worked long diligent hours to meet the needs of our patients. We were able to help people hear their families better and communicate better in noise, a huge feat. We sold 6 pairs of hearing aids and have a few more appointments this upcoming week. So, we will continue to be busy. It was a very nice way to start off the new year. Now we have to get ready for our event in February. It is soon and we have a lot to do to prepare for it.

For those of you who don't know or haven't seen her. This is Renee, my very good friend and business partner. Renee is currently in her doctoral program for Audiology as well. Now, people can put a face to the name.
Only 3 more weeks of school left! I am very excited to finish up this semester. This is my last semester and then I can take comps. I am actually really excited to take the comprehensive exam as well. It is 160-170 questions that must be finished in 3 hours and covers of the classes offered in the Salus University distance program (I had to take 20 classes to complete my requirements).
After completion and passing this exam then I can use the title Dr. Brandi Shepard, Doctor of Audiology. This is a long time in the making and I am very proud to have come as far as I have.
I started this program in the Fall of 2006 and had been enrolled in 11 semesters to finish the course load. Not only was this commitment to my professional/personal growth very time consuming, difficult, and challenging to me, but on my family as well. I can't say enough about how great they have been. It seems that every night, holiday, and weekend I have had to be doing something for school. My family has been nothing but supportive in every way that they could be and have understood the time that I have needed to be away from them to be completing this course work. I plan on taking the comp exam before our little girl is born so I can completely concentrate on my family and work. Todd and I are planning on attending my graduation in Elkin Park, Pennsylvania on May 22nd.
TIDBIT: Salus University, named for a Latin word meaning health and well-being, is known for its primary care philosophy, holistic approach, and commitment to the development and success of its students.
