Gardening Shepard Style

I have mentioned that Todd and I are trying to be smarter with our money. As a part of that I have decided that I would like to start a small garden. I was inspired by a patient that happens to grow all of the food that her babies eat. Hmmm got me thinking. I knew that I couldn't have the garden that I wanted to eventually have because of lack of research, lack of budget, and lack of time, so I was a bit limited. Since, I belong to a rather small prestigious gardening club (consists of Tom and Stacie from work) I was able to ask them for advice. In brainstorming with my garden club, Tom came up with a bucket garden approach (his genius ideas are what make him the president of the garden club and that it was his idea to have the club in the first place). So, Tom gave me some buckets and seeds, I bought some top soil, and the kids and I went to work. Here we are making the Shepard Bucket Garden.

Right Hand Man in the Gardening Dept. He helped me collect rocks for the bottom of my buckets and put all the dirt in.

It can't all be work. Mason is hitting the ball with the measuring stick and he is really getting good. Todd put the ball up after ran into the wall. In my defense I was watching to make sure that I wasn't going to run over Carter.

  1. This "bucket garden" approach is really cool and apparently the "in thing". Grandaughter #2 is planting hers today - using left over seeds/plants from my regular garden.... I hope it works out for both of you --- fresh veggies are so good for us, particularly those w/o pesticides and chemical fertilizer. Such good mommies making sure their families have the healthiest and best!
