6 pm Results Sunday

Cole was tested again at 6 pm tonight and his bilirubin score has dropped to 11.3. The exciting part about this score dropping is that his little body is having the change to expel the bilirubin without more treatment. Also for every hour that he is older the score isn't as determinantal to his health. He now has no more IV and is eating a little more as a result. They still want/need to supplement my colostrum with formula, which he takes both with ease. He also got the tape and clamp off his belly button which will allow it to dry up since they won't be needing it for anything. Originally they were going to use the artery and veins in it to give him injections and take his blood samples, it the risk (bowel infections and other internal infections) outweighed the positives (pain of being pricked, injections sights). All I can say is WHOOOOO HOOOOO! We also get to feed him for 30 minutes to an hour every 3 hours. We love holding him, talking to him, touching him, feeding him. I am often reminded of when Avery was in the nursery for the exact same condition and I am so thankful for the more aggressive treatment that Cold is getting. It makes me fell horrible and angry that we never got to hold Avery and what her little body went though unnecessarily.
