Poor Sydney

We have had Sydney since March 2001. Now, her back leg is hurt and has been for awhile. The vet thought that she pulled it while running or straining it somehow. He recommended that we don't let her run or jump for 6 months to see if it would get better. If not then we could have it amputated for a cool $3000. It isn't looking like it is going to get better and it isn't looking like we are going to have it amputated. The vet said that she didn't appear to be in any pain, but he didn't want us to give her anything for it because he wanted her to "baby" it. When it is cold we do give her an aspirin. Anyway, this accident has changed the alpha status at our house from Sydney to Sara. I often think that Sara is taking it too far and is a bigger jerk that she needs to be to Sydney. So, Sydney has been getting some much needed special attention.

The wood across the walkway is Todd's doing. One day I had asked him to go get the baby gate and put up so that the kids could play on the deck (right off our kitchen) while I cooked dinner. He didn't think that it would be high enough or that we could trust it if one of the kids leaned on it. Turns out I do feel better about our scabbed together quick solution and the kids love that they get to go out on the deck a lot more while I am in the kitchen.

Avery loves to pet the dogs. She even kept trying to kiss Sydney and Sydney was loving the special attention she was getting.
