Avery in the Nursery

Avery went to the nursery on Monday about noonish. She was under the bilirubin lights to try to get down in levels that were safe for her to go home. We got the good news that she was able to go home on Wednesday at 4:00. It was fantastic news! Here are some photos of her in the nursery. She had to have these round velcro dots on her temples that they used to keep her eye protectors on with while she was under the lights. They had some very strong adhesive on them so when they were removed they left little red marks. In the hospital she had a really good appetite, eating 3 oz at a time. This was great because then she would be going to the bathroom more. The only way for her to get the bilirubin out of her system is to poop it out. The breast milk is suppose to help her poop. We are very happy when she poops!! The night girls gave Avery a bath and they had fun styling her hair. They had it in a mohawk when she was first born and Tuesday night they spiked it. Then they took pictures and wrote really nice notes on them about what a sweet girl that Avery was and how much they enjoyed taking care of her. Then they decorated her little bed with her pictures. It was a very nice gesture and made us feel good.
